Starting something you couldn't finish
Finnbar says: I used to know a guy who tattooed LOVE across his left knuckles, but didn't tattoo HATE on the other knuckles because he was right-handed and realised he couldn't finish. Ever run out of skills or inspiration halfway through a job?

A well stocked drinks cabinet
I'd love to be able to mix up a cocktail or two for the summer. The problem is I never seem to have more than one bottle of booze in the house at a time. How do these people not drink it all once its opened?
I'd like to be able to make this; but the initial outlay is a bit much!
Long Island Iced Tea recipe
1 part vodka
1 part Tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®
AND Never been able to get pasted the first boss on Ninja gaiden. Die on the way to him 1/2 the time too :(

The trick is to build it up over time.
Or get people 'round for a birthday, and tell them to bring a bottle of interesting spirit.
Whenever you go on holiday, come back with a bottle of something local (in Romania it's tsvika - plum brandy - which is not recommended, however).
Or just save up then go down the supermarket and blow £200 on stock. The great thing is that spirits generally keep.
We have a bar. I used to hate it, but now it's fantastic: after moving in together and sharing a joint, Mrs Vagabond suddenly decided to cover it in Tigerskin funfur. It's now the best thing you've ever seen except me.

the £200 will be the way to go.
I'd drink it within a week, which may be a reason why I've not done it. "spirits generally keep" not in my house.

It wasn't the inability to keep an open bottle of booze
it was the typo of "past" as "pasted" that made me wonder if you're an alcoholic...

The trick is
to but more booze before the fist bottle is finished. But then you're back to spending £200 in a week.
Or buy stuff you don't like (I've got lots of brandy, but can never seem to keep any gin, vodka, whisky, rum, etc.) But that defeats the object.
Tingtwatter may have a point - pub!
