Come on - it has to be an Urban Legend in the making. It's someone in the news department having a laugh. If I worked there, I'd do it.
Mind you - if I see the headline:
"Tenerife - Bird Flu Rips through Canaries!"
Then I'll know for a fact that someone is pulling my plonker....
