This is a question Waste of money

I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.

Thanks to golddust for the suggestion

My Dad
had a pretty normal job (schoolteacher), but saved and invested shrewdly throughout his career and built up quite a nest-egg.

What did he choose to invest £100,000 in just after he retired?

A mate of his (with no film-making experience) had a really good idea for an animated TV series.

No more £100,000.

Can't blame him though. The whole process of trying to get it made did sound like fun...

What was it called?

Don't really want to be too specific
(Not that I expect anyone especially cares who I am, or anything, obviously, but you never know)

It was an animated version of some eighties children's books, originally written for charity, which my Dad's friend had written.

To be fair, it didn't seem like a terrible investment at the time and there were channels with apparently 'definite' interest.

That is good
I think in their case it was more of a:

'Yeah, that programme you've committed to making? We're not interested any more. Sorry...'
