I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.

Elizabeth Duke?
Must be iffy quality gold as I dug up a pretty basic gold ring in the back garden, very misshapen and not very big but I've been offered £80 for scrap value.

Get it checked out. My brother did exactly the same as a young'un - found a small, misshapen ring in the flower bed. Turns out it's about 400 years old and worth a not inconsiderable amount. Had some kind of engraving round the inside edge, something to do with God.
