Waste of money
I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.
Thanks to golddust for the suggestion

I had some money in my pocket so I decided to go to one of those fancy heairdressers rather than my normal barber.
It cost £25.
They gave me a mullet.

Hahaha
I went to one of those places ahead of being sent to San Francisco for work - I wanted a "cool" haircut that wouldn't look out of place in Silicon Valley. As the lady booked me in I looked at her hair, the hair of the hairdresser who would be tending my barnet and the pictures of haircuts along the wall behind them, and quickly added: "NOT a mullet."
They were really disappointed, and gave me a haircut that caused everyone I met in the States to think I was French.
