it's the engagement ring that costs the £520the wedding ring is supposed to be a simple gold band of symbolism. I didn't marry a WAG, but then again she didn't marry a footballer.

Fair enough.I got given a £20 engagement ring by a boy called Wayne (how I wish I was joking) when i was 19. Since then I have promised myself that A) I'm not going to get engaged until I'm actually getting married (none of this "we've been engaged for 8 years" bollocks for me. Engaged to be married MEANS engaged to be married) and B) I'll not accept a cheapskate ring.
Since nobody since then has asked me to marry them it's kind of a moot point ;)
Still glad I didn't marry Wayne though...
