You are only as good as the person that teaches you.And there are alot of crap teachers out there.. Alot of martial arts over here are just about lots of grades and grading you fast to earn big bucks..sad but true. But its also about the person you are, if you are a natural fighter, then I would say you have got a better chance than someone who doesn't like to fight.
I got my black belt after 5 years of training a couple of times a week, sometimes, 3 times a week..thats alot of cash. But, all of that training goes out of the window when you are drunk.. I took on a couple of guys who were beating on this other one, and all I could remember is to punch through the target.. I haven't been back to karate since.
