We built a zip line once in ScoutsBut I don't think the Scout leader had done it before, and didn't realise how tight the rope had to be.
First person down and the rope stretched and he ended up in the river.
Years later I built some with people who knew what they were doing and they were ratcheted taut, then we had to 'test' them several times to stretch the rope so it could be tightened more so the kids didn't get grass burn when they landed :D
