Well, if you're a manager,
it really shouldn't matter if the people you're managing know more about what they're doing than you do. Your job is to manage - not necessarily to get your hands dirty.

I always thought it was
something of a defining line - in general a good boss is one who could do the jobs of all the people he bosses.
It certainly doesn't hurt.
Or so I've heard.
