Doesn't always workThis method depends on the size of the neck involved - if you have a big neck and you want the tip of the tie to be low enough, there's not enough in the loop to undo it enough to go over your head.

My neck's normal sized (16")but I do have an unusually large head. I went to look at hats once, and the shop owner had to rummage round the stockroom to find one that would fit me.
