
set the sound to 'stream' in the property box, not 'event' and it'll force the animation timeline to keep up.
The difference happens because it takes a little longer to render a frame of graphics than it does to play a sound, so unless the framerate is forced to keep up it eventually lags behind. Setting it to streaming forces it to keep pace.
EDIT: this is why it gets worse further on. The more frames to render, the more the slight lag gets. If it's trying to run at 20 fps, but it takes .06 of a second to render a frame rather than the proper .05 then soon a lag will accumulate and continue getting bigger. Geddit?
