fuel cost £1.18 a litre
Fuel tax= 54p per liter
V.A.T (sales tax)=17.5%
garage profit= 2p per liter

price without tax 46p per liter

also car tax (like stamp duty for cars)= £120 per year

edit: actually that works out as $3 per US gallon
