My mother-in-law wallpapered one of our bedrooms yesterday because she was a bit bored.
I suggest you find yourself an easily bored mother-in-law and move her in for a few days.

she'd only go and choose something I didn't like and put that up instead.

Last time she came down she attacked Katherine's room and COMPLETELY ignored me when I told her which paint to buy, bought the homebase colour nearest (not the same, and there was a reason I'd specified that colour) and then needed double the amount of paint to cover the green that was in there originally.
