It's not even manga, really.
I think she's fallen into the trap of thinking 'If I draw anime/manga I don't have to study anatomy'. A lot of people don't realise that the best manga artists learn to draw realistically first, then learn to distort and simplify.

EDIT: But yes, they are painfully static. I was trying to draw dynamic poses even when I was 12.

That's why I gave up and just draw my rabbit.
I was sneaky at her age when I did art at school - I did mainly sci-fi stuff and worked with either oil pastels or inks (I fear that my mum may still have the offending items). It managed to disguise how crap my work was like a treat. I still can't go near watercolours without having a fit though.
