As a young bloke going to folk club I pretty much get ignored while everyone else badly croons along with the same songs they have sat and played for the last 30 years.
I just get some mates together at mine with a few beers and we play for a couple of hours. Much more fun.

She does a turn at the pub from time to time and that's quite good fun. Mainly it's earnest beards making whooping noises to some dullard on the northumbrian pipes.

An aluminium harp. I just hate the earnest, worthy, folkies who sing songs about fishing and how awful the mines were, really meaning it when they have never been near a boat or a mineshaft.
That and they reject the idea that folk music can be modern. As Leadbelly said when asked if he played folk music 'all music is folk music 'cos it is played by all kinds a folks'
