a little bit odd. You love your kid and that's all that matters.
As an aside tomatoes grow really well against a wall that gets some sunlight (a few hours a day) but not too much. And a sunshade cloth stretched above them will let water through, stop them getting burnt and will help keep them from folding when it buckets

Yeah I know it's terrible on the eyes
BUT it does a bloody good job.
Don't get more then 40% for your toms or they won't get enough sunlight.
