meh
I'll just fork out for a 1TB thing at weekend and reinstall, this is running on an old piece of crap IDE Maxtor and it's nearly clapped out

if its a half hight Maxtor its liable to go sooner rather than later

(, Fri 12 Jun 2009, 2:11, archived)
Given that he just said it was old, do you think it's possibly already at "later"?

I have yet to see a half hight Maxtor survive more than 3 years
having said that, i don't know if it is a half hight one.

I have two, they're even second hand.
They're hot buggers, but they work.
(, Fri 12 Jun 2009, 2:18, archived)
I just dont trust them
having said that the newer maxtors are ok, just them older half height things gave us a shit load of trouble (75% returns)

Oh dear.
Got SATA ports? IDE is terribly slow. All my old IDE drives are now external backups. They look all black and sexy, lined up on my vast desk.

I've got SATA up the ying-yang here
I'm in the middle of upgrading, IDE's are going in a NAS enclosure BUT I'd like to find a reliable way of imaging the OS onto a new drive first

I might be a twat and do RAID

Use one of these:

haha, what the bollocks?
"DriveImage ... Images are stored in XML files"

riiiight, that sounds like a good way to do it

I was hoping you'd pick that one without thinking.
The look of horror and disgust on your face would make my day, even though I'd not be able to see it.

Instead, I will have to upset someone else to satisfy my need for Internet hate.

dont like raid
had the new pc all set up in raid, one of the drives failed (at 9 months) and I nearly lost all my data (thankfully I do actually back my stuff up)
