ME
in a perfect world. Probably the family a tiny bit, and the publishers a big bit.

Wowwie, I need to go to work
and try and convince them to let me do my shift an hour early so I can go home an hour early so I can catch a train. This makes me :(

Don't ask, explain that it's what you're going to do.
That's what I do, and it always works for me.

How's that work?
I'd be far too tempted to include a "If that's okay" at the end.

'Hi Manager Name, I've got to do this so I'll be leaving at 4. Cheers!'

I'm going to :D
I wish I worked in an office, life is so much easier in offices. You know, with water coolers and lifts and coffee breaks whenever you feel like it.

And blouses and pencil skirts
and comfy swivel chairs and computers with internet access all day and even spreadsheets and databases. Time to look for a course to improve my skills.

Customer Service NVQs are fucking easy.
I'd go with that.

By the way, I think I've stolen your term manwife.
I love it.

Back to the point, my partner did an NVQ. He did the basic coursework in four hours - I think I need something more challenging.

It was just a means to an end for me, I needed it to get a team leader position
which was horrid, anyway.

Manwife is a good term and Tarquin can fuck off if he doesn't like it.
