However I'm bored of the thrashy treble-up-your-arse sound. I prefer to mix things up a bit, certainly with the style we play we have scope to do some.

I don't like that sound so much any more. If I could afford a Mesa Boogie dual rec I'd get one, but as such the marshall I've got is pretty much the most versatile one.

I'd not buy Mesa, they're far too expensive for what they are, IMO. Poseramps, we used to call them when the mister's ex guitarist had one.
