The Brits invented a lot of the major team sports,
or formalised them at least. So we really should be better at a lot of them. Then again we have quite a small population compared to many of the countries we paly against.

and we play ALL the sports we invented,
while most of the other countries focus on only one of them.

That is true,
N.Z. for instance, has a population of 4 million, yet are arguably the best rugby side in the world. They only play rugby really, cricket and football really don't feature.

or tennis, or hockey, or golf, or crown green bowls

I think that's the best point to make about British sport.

it doesn't even make sense that we should be better at things just because we invented them,
it would be unsporting in the least to only invent games with the intent of winning all the time. And it's like saying only Greeks should be any good at medicine.

I know, it's not as if we invented them a few years ago, practiced them for ages and then told the world about them.
I think the fact that we play so many different sports and are in the top 10 in the world for the majority of them show's that we're not exactly crap at sports.
