I wanted a ukulele for my birthday.
I ended up with a mandolin. I've had it since May and I still can't play bastard Maggie fucking May.

You should get one - ours was only a £20 job from the local music shop
but it sounds lovely. I still love the fact that because there are only four strings and a small fretboard that just playing holding down three random strings seems to produce a good sounding chord of some description.

I can play the intro to Californication and Smells Like Teen Spirit already :D
