also a really good system sounds so amazingdoesn't even have to be loud, in fact it's better when it's not loud but it seems so loud, then someone says something and you realise it's pretty quiet, but the bass is full and the middle is all there and the highs are sweet and it doesn't have to be loud for it all to be there. that's when you know you got a decent setup imo. if i played my system *loud* the doors would be literally shaking in their frames, but i don't ever need to, and i don't even want to. a place for everything. and everything in my ears.

We spent ages getting a good setup. It really is worth all the effort to get it setup properly and worth spending some money. I imagine though at some point you reach the point of diminishing returns and you can just plug money in without getting any massive gains.

yes of course! you can literally spen 75,000 on speakersand then realise that what you have is apparently wank because these ones are 950,000! i just like listening to decent (but different), speakers.
if you have speakers YOU are happy with there is NO reason to change other than maybe if you're wondering if there is something you're missing, which there probably is, but is it worth £2000? probably not.
