# Choose Regeneration

Choose life. Choose regeneration. Choose a fucking bigger-on-the-inside time machine. Choose robot dogs, yellow cars, bottomless pockets and a sonic screwdriver.
Choose two hearts, a respiratory bypass system and the colour of your kidneys. Choose fixing planets social systems. Choose your companions.
Choose frock coats and a question mark pullover. Choose a hideous coat in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose a pocket universe and wondering where the fuck your planet is on a Sunday morning.
Choose sitting on that couch watching the time rotor go up and down, stuffing fucking jelly babies into your mouth.
Choose exploding away at the end of it all, pissing your last on a miserable planet, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up incarnation you have spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future. Choose regeneration.

# Hurt is Doctor Who #9
Eccleston is 10
Tenant is 11 AND 12 (something about a half arsed regeneration that I don't remember)
Smith is 13
Capaldi is the 14th doctor (or 13th regeneration)

I think

# Agreed
but the BBC and Moffat are both referring to Capaldi as the 12th Doctor, so I left it at the Hurt "Doctor No More" and one-persona-Tennant numbering for now.

# are they? how queer
I could have sworn it was Moffat's counting that I was remembering
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:35, archived)
# Hmmm maybe I'm wrong
the BBC (and therefore the press) are calling Capaldi the 12th:
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/galleries/p01qr11y

But I can't spot a quote from Moffat now.

Seems like he should 14th to me, or possibly 13th as Tennants persona didn't change (more like he wasted a regeneration rather than made use of it).

# maybe they changed their mind on Hurt being a Doctor and Tennants thing
who knows
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:53, archived)
# I have a sad need to know
Moffat needs to get some stone and start setting things in it
(, Wed 29 Jan 2014, 10:57, archived)
# oh yeah, just read a thing, completely forgot (as is the way with this constantly made up guff)
When Smith keeled over it was some nonsense about asking for help from the time lords so they granted him an extra regeneration, or maybe a new 12

So..... maybe they're now counting backwards - Smith is 13 and then Capaldi IS 12

# countdown!
In 50 years we'll get to see the last Doctor implode into nothing

# I like Neil Gaiman's response to that

# ta!
I agree we shouldn't re-number anyone, just skip 12 and have Capaldi as 13. John Hurt was the 12th actor to play a specific and unique incarnation of the Doctor, just shown out of order.

Matt Smith's Doctor specifically referred to himself as 11 a few times (before the re-evaluation of John Hurt) so it should be senseless to go back and re-number even from a crazed fan perspective.

"we all know who we mean when we say Doctors NIne, Ten or Eleven. If anyone corrects you and says “You mean TWELFTH!” when you say “Matt Smith was the eleventh Doctor” then that person is being irritatingly pedantic"

No, he's pointing out that it's an appallingly rewritten tv show and that we don't all know who he means by 9, 10, 11 etc

Having just read an interview with Moffat he doesn't know who you mean when you say Doctors Nine, Ten or Eleven as he says they've never been numbered. What a load of twats :D
