IMPORTANT COPYRIGHT
If you are an artist post art on this board please make sure you copyright,
I've just found Nickelodeon have stolen my pictures and are using them as there own without my permission and I am PISSED OFF.
I'm the luckiest bugger alive, just happened to be walking past (nick studios next to my work) and saw a bird painting it. I really believe in fate now, didn't before...
SO i'm putting up a copyright notice and I'm going to talk to them later on about it.
So yes, hear is a warning from someone who just lost out on alot of money from not putting on a little c in his work.
EDIT: PROOF

Cheers

I work by Nickelodeon
And saw some bird painting one of my David Hasselhoffs talking about B3ta and it being a good source.
I went up to a girl and asked her where she got that from and she just started deniying that the work was mine...
VERY VERY random. I think it's a sign.

good source
the money they`re earning they should be making their own stuff.. cunts
better knock up some kind of photoshoppy copyright tag thing
I hope you kick ass, I really do, cos your stuff is class
- which means that some cunt from "Nick" is currently on the phone to a lawyer saying "how can we prove that we made this first even though we didn`t?"

I'm not sure I understand the context
and all this "they" business might be over the top. All we know so far is "some bird was painting it". Don't know what she was painting it on, or what for, and it was presumably her own idea to use it.

just going on what the Donkey man says
we`ve never been a bunch to wait for all the facts ;)
if it`s all true, we should all have a banner we paste on every post slamming "Nick" and it`s dubious business practices
- a little banner, mind you, nothing crazy.. in orange and white
maybe Stelios will sue b3ta ..
god it`s all so complex

I get the impression that it's not Nickelodeon that has dubious business practices
But "some bird" who suffered a momentary lapse of judgement due to lack of hummus.
edit: aw, look, she's made him fitter and given him a medallion. Fair play I say.

hmm. we might blatantly nick other people's work and modify it slightly
But we're not doing it for commercial gain; it's fairly reasonable use, and the mods remove stuff the copyright holders do complain about-- I remember a Ladybird book FP being removed 'cos the publishers e-mailed Rob.
But what nickelodeon have done... that is for commercial gain. And it's shit of them.

my advice
1. never believe ANYTHING you find on a web site that is
a) not written by the official source
a.1) written in plain English

You automatically own the copyright
of anything you create.
It's all a matter of being able to prove it was yours in the first place. Unfortunately it all probably comes down to who has the most money to spend on lawyers.

That's harsh
...but as far as I'm aware you can establish copyright after the event, if you can prove you made it first. Good luck!

Plus Donkey Gums' got a pretty distinctive "style"
I'd imagine it's easier to prove you drew a picture than that you shopped one, plus you don't have the problem of having used someone elses source

regardless of whether you put a little c on it or not.

surely seeing as you created it you already hold the right to the image.
i seem to remember one of SE's pictures being used on internutter and him giving then a ticking off.
if they are using material created by you without seeking proper permission then they should find themselves in a liable position.

I'm doing it out
Of principle:
If they think they can get away with it then what to stop them from stealing of you your work?!?!?
I'm doing this for B3ta and our hardwork that deserves beer tokens.

maybe it's less of a corporate or
organizational action. Maybe someone said "we need a mural" and the girl that you mentioned found (stole) that, without saying that she didn't make it.

what's the artwork on the outside of the building for?

I work with Ad agencies a lot ....
and B3ta is well known as a good source of material.
As soon as you create anything it is already copyright material owned by you, however, be aware that if you wanted to get shitty with them, they could question all sorts of things, i.e. did YOU have all relevant permissions.
Also, If you took 'em to court, you have to be able to prove how much out of pocket you are, which believe me is bastard difficult.
Why not nip over and see the boss at their office, and suggest firing the bint who nicked your work and sub-contracting out to you:)
