Mini image challenge: Kitten on the naughty step
We're introducing a new way of dealing with trolls / problems on the board.
As mods we've only got one stick: Ban people - and frankly it's a big stick and 90% of the time we'd like to use something softer.
We're going to have a naughty step. So when posters are being a pain in the arse they can be sent to the step for half an hour and not allowed to post.
We'd like an image of a sad eyed kitten on step which a speech bubble, 'Oh noes. I'm on the naughty step because [we give our reason here]'
Anyone want to draw one?

Why half an hour?
They could be an egregious arse for a day and then get "stepped", go get a cup of tea then come back and do it again.

there will be a range of times
from 10 seconds to a week.
Anything longer than that - we might as well just ban them properly.
EDIT: And about walking away... People remain on the step until they've pressed the button saying they'll behave. So they'll know they've been stepped, regardless of whether they're around or not.

And it could be random
so you don't know how much spanking to expect and just wait, pressing F5 hopefully, to find out when you're allowed back!!!
or you could tell them and be fair

yes
as it allows the mods to send a message to a user that they're serious about something without using modedits / email etc.

I don't know what to think about this but it makes me laugh (maybe it makes me love, too. I don't know).

I like the idea
Will we also be getting an "unpopular" page as well as a "popular" page, like a rogues gallery of all the users who are currently sitting on the naughty step?

no
as people would compete to get into it.
with the result of degrading the board for everyone.

I like this,
its a good idea, it would be cool to see who has been banned for what reason as well,
however this entire thing could go tits up if people start bandwagoning the 'you have been blocked for 15mins' emails in a bid to see who can get blocked the longest without getting a total ban. not that i would aspire to such childish ways, but the naughty step does sound like a fun place to hang out for a joke. (please dont send me there though)
is there a way of blocking their isp instead, so that not only can they not respond to others, but they cant see whats going on either (dont know if internet works like this or not)

you've pretty much answered your own question
as to why there will be no public list of this.

I saw you on telly last night,
I shouted "FUCKING HELL" and nearly woke the whole house up. Shame they only interviewed you about one thing, though.

These are 2 photos of my sister's kitten that died after it got hit by a car.
Not that I wish to sway the choice, but please think of the dearly departed.
