Second ever DERBY Bash!



Alright you rowdy lot! the votes are in and the date/venue decided.
We will be upstairs in the Bless, a function room all of our very own, complete with bar! There will be real ales available from downstairs, and plenty of room for hijinks and balloons.

The music downstairs is pretty varied, and refreshingly unpoppy, but we don't have that piped up to our domain so we have a clean slate.
We're open to suggestions, especially in these early days, as to what to do for entertainment. If anyone fancies playing a bit of music or has other crackin' ideas then leave a message on here or send a gaz to myself or the utterly lovely Professor Kenny Martin. Otherwise it's going to be a cd player and whatever humorous (god, not the horses, NOTTHEHORSES!) mixes b3tans bring along! In theory we can't be 'too loud', but in practice I get the impression we can get away with a fair amount as long as we don't completely take the piss.

The Bless itself is walkable distance from the train station, but can be a bit of a pain to find if you don't know the area. As with last year, there will be lifts from the station for those who REALLY need them, but it would be easier if people post their train times as and when they know them and we can hopefully arrange people arriving at roughly the same time to make it easier for people to find their way. Watch this space for updates/directions if needed, and as always I will make our mobile numbers available on request for those who want a contact once en-route.

There is limited kippage at ours to the extent of:
- 1x double sofa bed
- 1x big sofa

BUT...we have plenty of floor space for anyone that wants to bring a sleeping bag or suchlike, and peeps who just want somewhere to crash are more than welcome, plus we are only 5 minutes walk from town! Parking is a little odd around our place, though in theory we could squeeze some cars on our plot overnight, but we are right next door to a wine rack (niiiiice) and with a little gentle persuasion they probably wouldn't object to a couple of cars being on their lot overnight either.
Alternatively; there is a good hotel literally 60 seconds up the road from us, the International. I've been told that it is pretty decent and is quite reasonably priced.
There is also the location of Dr. When's harem last year, The Stuart Hotel, recently renovated and quite adequate (though probably quite pricey if you don't find someone to share with!).

Last year we ended up with about 45 people, let's see if we can match it this year and have another brilliantly ridiculous night!

Edit: I don't know if this will work for you, but if you search for b&b on google maps, with the postcode of the pub (DE1 3GU) you get the nearest results. Ignore the first one because it's bloody student accomadation agents, not a b&b! but you could try a couple of those?

UPDATE STUFF:

- There will probably be peeps at the Bless from about 4pm

- Rotating Wobbly Hat has sorted us out with some fine music-playing bitches (well, a sound system) and a few people are bringing a selection of musaks with which to be playing HOWEVER please can people bring any mix cds/odd bits they feel would add to the experience? I'd really like there to be a good selection :)

- My mobile number and/or Prof's can be obtained by gazzing if you feel it would be useful to you or you'd like to have it just incase

- Can anyone still needing directions or help getting to the Bless let me know?
