I also like cheese.
I like more than one variety of cheese. Check the replies for details.

Mouth-achingly strong stuff. Not that orange plastic. Mild cheese? Who the fuck wants mild cheese? Yanks and cunts. That's who.

American cheddar
Almost without exception is complete shit. Cabot do a good mature cheddar, as do some of the other North East creameries. Since my local Costco started selling real English mature cheddar (made by 'Coastal', whoever they are) there's been no need to pollute my body with the fake American pretend cheddars though.

Lancashire cheese is shit 78% of the time
which makes it almost as unreliable as cheddar (94% shit) but good lancashire is easily the best cheese-on-toast cheese.

I had a friend at university who could make cheese on toast with no toast. The man was a cheese god.
(, Fri 27 May 2011, 19:38, closed)
Manyyears ago
there were lots of creameries in Lancashire making awesomely delicious Lancashire cheese. Now there's only one that I know of and it's nothing like as good as some of those cheeses I remember from my childhood.
(, Tue 31 May 2011, 12:45, closed)
This is one of the tragedies of the modern age.
I've had to become a race traitor and take Wensleydale when proper Lancashire hasn't been available.

Sad times.

It's incredibly hard to find a cheese that goes with whisky.
Try it. All shit. It's the only possible time when smoked cheese becomes morally acceptable.

Or you could just not eat cheese with whisky. You fucking idiot.

Can you buy pink Primula any more?

(, Fri 27 May 2011, 19:40, closed)
Is that the one with ham in it?
I think you can. I saw it for sale in a local supermarket a few weeks ago and bought a tube of the prawn one for sake of nostalgia. I think it's more likely to have bits in it rather than be a homogeneous pink now but the product still exists.
(, Fri 27 May 2011, 20:50, closed)
I was thinking of the prawn one.
It was pink and clearly contained 0% prawns. Probably just beetroot juice and fishmonger floor moppings. Mmmmm. Fishmonger floor moppings.
(, Fri 27 May 2011, 20:54, closed)
That one's not pink any more.
It's yellow with undefinable prawn-flavoured bits in it. I was surprised to see it still existed which was why I bought it.

It's still as moreish as crack.

And komijnekaas is a variant of different kinds of cheese, so you can have Edam komijnekaas, or Leidse komijnekaas. Basically a flavour of any cheese.

'Research' here meaning, 'I looked it up on Wikipedia'.

(Slightly sweet, firm, brown, goat cheese). No idea if anyone bothered to translate it into English or sell it here -- but it's damn good. The only cheese that tastes really good on waffles.
