who were torn as to whether to try and save the pigeon, thinking it was dead and then it'd flap around and they'd want to save it again.

"It's nature," I would have said, " It's not our place to interfere." I'd have continued.
I didn't know crows killed things, but it was so easy for this one it must do it all the time, it literally just leant over and grabbed a pigeon by the neck. And the wondering off with the head bit demonstrated what a showman that crow is.
