Did you do it all from scratch on the pad?
I did this using pencil and scans first. (I'm too poor to own a tablet)

No, I drew and inked it on paper first and scanned it in.I did some from-scratch digital sketches earlier but I'm not very good at those yet. It's different from using a pen. (Mine was a present; I don't think I would ever have bought one for myself.)
