I may have this wrongbut I think some sects believe that any literal represenation of anything that appears in nature should be forbidden.
The Palace of the Alhambra is stunningly decorated but there wasn't one actual 'picture' of anything that I could see. It's all intricate geometric patterns and highly stylized writing.

Yet geometric patterns occur in nature, e.g. snowflakes and petal structuresand "writing" occurs too in simulacra, e.g. the name of Allah appearing in an aubergine. Therefore they should be banned too.
