# I may have this wrong
but I think some sects believe that any literal represenation of anything that appears in nature should be forbidden.
The Palace of the Alhambra is stunningly decorated but there wasn't one actual 'picture' of anything that I could see. It's all intricate geometric patterns and highly stylized writing.
