Wouldn't biscuit = raw_input('What sort of biscuit did you buy?') have to come before the if/elif?
Otherwise, your biscuit is always 'x' until after the conditionals, which I can only assume is some kind of experimental Jammy Dodger/Rich Tea hybrid...

Ah, sort of.
I forgot to add the menu options bit. That way the bicuit = "x" triggers the menu to print. Not only that, once in the loop, biscuit is then a local variable and the value of the global biscuit can be ignored if replaced by the raw input.
