# The long, drawn-out and tedious way that I use, as I don't know any better,
is to advance the video a frame at a time in Quicktime Player, screenshotting as I go,
dump all the resulting files into one folder and use 'Open Folder As Frames' in
ImageReady, and crop the result. I'm sure there must be much easier ways though.

And Virtualdub has the ability to export straight to gif.

EDIT: Both are free (as in both beer and speech).
