I got the 1984 reference immediately, but had no idea what Your Shape: Fitness Evolved is until, in a fit of inspiration, I Googled 'fitness video game' and eventually found a picture of something called, apparently, an 'Xbox'.
I shall click, as I am rather tickled by the idea of a dictatorial video game console.

I saw the game being exhibited,and it worried me the way that your 'trainer' appears to criticise and harangue you, whilst checking your compliance via the camera. Hence the idea ...
