# it's difficult to avoid when you don't have a pay rise in years but inflation continues and the cost of keeping the house warm rises dramatically
I've stopped buying DVDs and CDs relying solely on Spotify and what's on tv. Don't eat out or go to the pub, only have the one car between the two of us and take on whatever extra jobs I can when they turn up.

Still not doing the job. So, any suggestions seeing as you seem to have it all sussed in your life?

# You need to invent some kind of sauce or other, then go on that
Dragon's Den.

4: PROFIT.

Or turn your garden over and plant a variety of hardy crops. I know the feeling man. I went to the pub for the first time in months and had one pint, then went home as I'd run out of money.

# 'sympathies'
Sitting in hovel in Wales with broke central heating, no money, ill.

# Get rid of the car and use public transport?
Do more shifts?

Get another job?

Move in to somewhere cheaper?

We're hardly a war-torn nation afflicted by the third year of drought - here in the West we've quite a comfortable living in comparison with many and have an awful lot to be grateful for.

# there is no commutable public transport where I live
just 1 bus a week in to a town in the opposite direction of where I work.
More shifts - not in the job I have and as I say I take whatever freelance work I can get.
Another job, the costs in travel or relocation and risks involved are currently outweighing this.
Move - having moved house 3 times now and incurred the usual cost associated with it each time I know this is a stupidly expensive thing to do, plus the housing market dropped since we moved which could result in negative equity for me. so again, no, not really an option.
I agree it could be far worse. But it could also be far better and more rose fucking tinted.

# You're a home-owner in the middle of the countryside?
Gosh. Nice.

# it's a picturesque concept if you look at it that way yes
or you could imagine being detached from society, having an annoying commute, terrible net connection, fewer mod cons, no shops near etc etc and clinging on to that much.

# ... by choice, I take it?
I mean - or were you forced to buy the place for one reason or another?

(, Wed 17 Nov 2010, 15:14, archived)
# pretty much
it was the best place we could get when I last changed jobs.

# So you chose to live there.
I see.

# hahahaha
you really can be a tool at times can't you.
Do you walk up to car crash victims saying "well you did chose to learn to drive didn't you?"

# Depends - I have little sympathy for people who total themselves when drunk.
You're a home-owner, in the middle of the countryside - a position many people would love to be in - you get freelance work, you've got talent and education, a nice computer and time to doss about on B3ta, and you're moaning because a couple of Royals are getting wed and you don't want a compo about it?

Tell me again how I'm being a tool.
(, Wed 17 Nov 2010, 15:45, archived)
# you have no idea about my life and are making really shit assumptions
that's one way of being a tool

The other could be thinking my saying "can't wait for the reposts" is moaning about a compo that hasn't even happened. Maybe you just have a different definition of moaning.

You petty tool.

# You're right, of course - I have no idea about your life
other than what you've told me.

Fair enough - I have assumed that you are educated to a degree - if not then you are supremely talented at drawing.

I assume you have a computer, because you're on B3ta, as well, and have time to doss about on B3ta, because you do so.

And yes - I suppose I did take the "can't wait for the reposts" comment to be sarcastic, and therefore moaning.

Because as we all know, reposts kill kittens, rape babies, and invite Hitler 'round for tea.

You're right - I'm a petty tool.
