Right, the zooming is done in After Effects, create two scale keys, select and then choose exponential scale - I had to paste values into Maya to put the scale in there as I don't know how to do exponential scales in Maya; to make the seamless environment duplicates in Maya first create one environment and then duplicate it and parent it to the moving/zooming camera and then scrub timeline to end of zoom and unparent, which will handily create a perfectly scaled version; then also do the same in reverse to create the huge environment needed for the beginning

Plus a bit of keying and modeling as well as searching for models on the internet rendered with vector renderer to give the solid colours and nice lines. Job done
