I'm sure I once witnessed a festival type theatre group
who were 'sword' fighting with running chainsaws. I have never been certain this was possible without some kind of trickery being involved.

A little trickery
The chains are blunt - any performance involving chainsaws usually uses blunt chains. The high-speed steel against steel should be enough to spark loads and look cool without being especially dangerous.
