In 1885, the Queen commissioned the Staffordshire Ostrich Cavalry who saw extensive action in India and then in the Boer War. Little now is known of them, barring this one photo, discovered at the bottom of a locked chest owned by one Montague Mallard Esq following his death from consumption.

P.S. Happytoats' colour wheel down there is driving me nuts now as I have vaguely submerged memories bobbing to the surface of some weighty kid's toy or puzzle from the past with hexagonal or triangular facets in red, yellow and blue.
