In 1885, the Queen commissioned the Staffordshire Ostrich Cavalry who saw extensive action in India and then in the Boer War. Little now is known of them, barring this one photo, discovered at the bottom of a locked chest owned by one Montague Mallard Esq following his death from consumption.
