# Can I offer criticism without being a cunt?
I am not sure - I am going to try, but if I come across as a cunt then please be assured I do not mean to:

I assume this is on canvas stretched on some kind of frame. When you did this you may have benefited from shaving the inner edge of the frame in order to achieve the same sort of effect that one does by adding quadrant when stretching a more regularly shaped canvas.

The inner edge is quite prominently visible and I think that this detracts from the work to the point where it spoils it a bit.

I am trying to suggest something for future pieces to avoid this marking, not to say "haha! look at you, you fucking amateur! Why not fuck off back to St Martins, you cunt?", you understand?

# quick one
When you stretch the canvas what is the best way to stretch it without getting a baggy end

# I had a set of mole-grip style pliers which featured a bit for levering with, which were excellent,
but I advise using a staple gun to attach it in the centre of one side, then opposite, then the centre of the other side, then opposite that (so a staple in the centre of each side) to begin with, then halve each space without any staples in and repeat until done.

Pull it bastard tight, then (if it is plain) apply rabbit's foot gum or white emulsion to a wet canvas to shrink it even further.

The staples should go on the back of the stretcher, rather than on the sides as well, so that the canvas passes over the quadrant and then around 2 corners before being stapled.

I also cut away some of the loose corner material before I fold the hospital corners, to prevent the bulge from being too large on the back of the canvas.

Of course, with an image already printed on the canvas things will be different as you do not want to distort the print. With those I guess you just have to be careful? No idea - don't do that sort of thing really.
