I thought it was a tedious bag of old tosh.
Visually brilliant, yes, but that's not enough to make a good film, any more than lens-flare and explosions.

It was brilliant
Kids fantasy done like I remember fantasies when I was a kid: the monsters were wicked, the people were hideous, and we got to laugh at the guy with a facial wound trying to drink whiskey just to push the gruesome painful stuff up a notch!
