Is this the previous owner of Spider Jerusalem's cat?
EDIT: I've just remembered I tried to watch another Stewart Lee thing at the weekend.
He really is that up himself - 'I'm going to tell a joke, and then it's all going to tie together at the end, and you'll find it funny, so keep watching'.
I must be missing some really clever irony here, because to me that comes across not only as patronising, but misguidedly self-agrandising too.
He would so love to be Charlie Brooker, and can't even reach that. He should go back to driving taxis.
At least Richard Herring can be funny.

Richard Herring was never the same since he had that crash on Top Gear

if you dont take everything he says at face value it becomes a lot more rewarding

I didn't. It appears that he's being "ironic" in that studenty way, but not in nearly as clever a manner as he thinks he is.

i think it's pretty clever.
Read his book and you'd realise how much thought goes into every word. Anyway, he's not a mainstream comedian and he doesn't appeal to everyone - that's why they put him on after newsnight.
If you dont understand his appeal, dont feel ashamed, you're in the majority.

I still think he's brilliant
There's not a finer stand-up out there

It's deconstructive comedy.
I lost all respect for Richard Herring when I saw him live a few years ago and he got annoyed at people shouting out Fist of Fun/TMWRNJ catchphrases, telling them how that was years ago and that he'd moved on, and then proceeded to rehash a sketch from the Lee and Herring radio show later in his routine.
