There was a show on BBC1, about a year or so ago, which took an in-depth look at why humans and dogs get on so well.
Among the revelations, it was proven that they 'read' us in a way that they don't do with any other animal they meet, including other dogs.
It totally changed my view of them.
They went from being acceptable lickspittles to genuine wonders in the space of an hour.
