its quite grainy actually, compared to some 2D ghibli, disney and production IG films i havebut it does indeed look lovely - especially the backgrounds and tetsuo when he goes all blobby. Nice and colourful too, given the trashed surroundings.

Then again, the graininess can only be expected with a 25 year old anime movie.But yeah, despite that there's tons of scenes with intricate details, such as, like you say, the ending sequence.
