I think one of the last good animes was probably Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Ghost in the Shell. I'm not with all this moody-emo-carrying-a-sword-bigger-than-my-house bullshit.

I've heard all the rest are just the episodes, but reworked.

K-on, Haruhi, Lucky star, Angel beats - theyre all like fucking teenage girls programmes.
Seeing what they did to modern day evangelion has made me believe that i dont think we'll ever see anything great like Hokuto no ken, samurai champloo, Ranma, cowboy bebop etc again...
The ghost in the shell series was great though - cant imagine that ever going down the shitty 'typical anime' route.

You've got to get through all the girly animes and PILES of Naruto.
I hear they are planning on making a live action remake of AKIRA, which is... wow... they've butchered that film. If it is at all any good, I will be very surprised.
I wish they'd took something I didn't really care about instead.

the funny thing is though, these 'girly animes' are mostly watched by men. When you see 'otaku rooms' on some websites, they are all pink and frilly, with posters, cushions and figures of girlies in pretty dresses everywhere!

We need to have more manly animes, such as HnK. At least then a typical otaku's room doesn't make you want to vomit/question said otaku's sanity.
Anime needs to start being awesome again, and not just be some weird sugar coated satire like Lucky Star is.

They've openly admitted they wouldn't be able to reproduce the feel of the original; they've released photos of their version of Kaneda's bike, along with the admission that it looks a bit...well...shit. Plus the idea of shifting the action to New York and filling the cast with white actors was about on a par with doing a Hamlet with Jean-Claude van Damme.
