# crawling down the stairs is fun
but not as fun as sliding down them on the lid of a twin tub
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 19:30, archived)
# We had a really long sofa cushion
Four of us used to ride down on it, much to the consternation of my mother

# the twin tub lid was great
but it fucked the stair carpet within a week :D

# Or, as my kids used to do....DUVET BIKES!
Slide down the stairs on a duvet!
Health & Safety? Stuff and Nonsense!
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 19:33, archived)
# we did that, sometimes
but i'd always get tangled up in the duvet. stair fun was banned after my sister broke her arm for the second time.

# The best way to avoid tanglement
was to make sure your legs were straight and to pull one end up over your feet and sit on the other.
You also went faster.
EDIT: ends of the duvet that is...

# oh, we never went down feet first

# Ahh
That'd be where I was going wrong, never an injury from stair sledging.
Although I did crack my chin open from going down a waterslide face first...

# broke a toe
and lost a large portion of arse skin by going down the death slide in blackpool funhouse in a swimming costume
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 20:31, archived)
# I would slide down entirely wrapped up in a sleeping bag
with no vision, to fill the experience with surprises, like surprising bruises.

# Anyone who didn't do that as a child
didn't graduate childhood.

# or lived in a bungalow?
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 20:16, archived)
# don't be silly
bungalows are where old people live
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 20:20, archived)
# That's true
Although some bungalows have attics, and I guess the ladder to the loft could make a good extreme version of stair sledging.
(, Thu 18 Aug 2011, 20:24, archived)
# As a bungalow kid...
...we had to find our fun outside the house. So it was Go Kart down the hill next to the Village Hall. You had to make sure you hit the bend in the path *just right* or it was a direct hit into the barbed wire. Could get messy...

(When snowy, swap go-kart for sledge or bin bag)
