Noncearuuuuu!
According to Wiki, a vast majority are legal (some even older than me)
One or two are... *estimates* probably 14-15, so I retract my SHAAAAAG statement partially. XD

ill just go for the ones that have 'graduated' - ie, gotten too old, and left.
Is that AKB48, or morning musume?

I have absolutely no idea; I only found out about AKB48 just now.
I'll accept the graduates then. XD

having been to japan many a time
ive seen them go from creepy otaku preference (AKB is short for AKIBA, as in Akibahara) to bestselling pop group. Their adverts were everywhere last time i went in feb.

So it looks like they're really making a name for themselves, not just among the otaku/hikikomori crowd...
I'm slowly starting to understand more of these Japanese groups; my housemates are obsessed with Tego Mass, I think they're called.

I blame Taiko no tatsujin.
I think I might have heard my housemates mentioning them.
I don't know whether it's a trend or it's just confined to one or two groups, but from what I see, a lot of male pop stars like to dress as women? And pull it off too well? Like Yuya Tegoshi.
