# I liked that when I was small because it had the line "SHUT UP" in it which seemed terribly risque, though the Onceler scared me a little

# in this 21st century gritty reboot, the Onceler buys carbon credits with a small portion of his profits, and everything dies.

# I think it's mainly upsetting because the lively, visionary 2D art has been clumsily rendered into the same wooden 3D modeling you see in every damn animation these days

# I've seen a preview.
Not rhyme in the whole damned thing, in other words not Dr. Suess but a rip off of his artwork. Again.
Hate hate hate!

# I'm confused.

the thing about the Onceler is you only see his hands, but they're showing him as a human being.
More egregiously, shoe-horning in popular talent (totally unproven as voice actors) as "original" characters. What are the odds it's motion captured animation, just for extra shittiness?

# i don't know about the film, we only have the books
it is a bit preachy, but my son likes it. next week it'll probably be daisy head maisy

# first I heard about the film, sounds like one to avoid

are you familiar with Lynley Dodd? My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes was her first book, but the Hairy Maclary series is probably best known.

# the story's basically about consumption and greed
the moral can be applied to any area of raping, pillaging and comsumption. the fact that they chose a forest to base the story on can come accross as a bit tree hugging, but the message is a good one and the story's fun to read.
my cat likes to hide in boxes sounds very familiar, i may have had that when i was young
i will have to check out some of her other work.
i like Nick Butterworth's books, they're nicely illustrated and fun to read as well. Q pootle 5 is my favourite of his

# I like the older cartoon version, though yeah: messagey.
My favourite book was On Beyond Zebra for being random and spooky.
the best single page though must be from One Fish Two Fish:
We found this one in the park, in the dark, we will take him home, we will call him Clark. Clark will live at our house, Clark will grow and grow. Will our mother like this? We don't know.
