# That is scary.
Not sure how that stuff works, easily spotted indicators for the non-doc being 'it could be bad when it blackens and falls off'. On other hand, no doubt any place you could get that checked today will be flooded with serious stuff from new years. I wouldn't take the risk and leave it.
