I didn't drink for about 8 years once ( I drink like a fish again now though)I had exactly the same problem socialising, people just don't want to know, and it made dating difficult too, as in there is no 'Oh pop round tonight and we'll watch a video and have a bottle of wine, and pretend we got so drunk we accidently slept together'

Yeah, it's weirdWhen you're young you're almost blackmailed to go clubbing/get wasted - and if you don't, you're ostracised.
But if you want to meet people there doesn't seem to be any reasonable alternative... I tend to bounce from house party to house party, seems more enjoyable :)
