# I had the 1969 vinyl Japanese release of that album -
so rare most Zappa-heads don't even know it existed! (not a boot-leg.)

It was the only record I dubbed to tape so I could listen to for about 8 months while my ship was at sea.
(later traded it for a new Canon F-1 camera...)

# the sad thing about zappa cd releases
was that he remixed a lot of the old stuff and even dubbed new stuff on some of it

# Very True
'We're Only In It For The Money' is a good example. =(

# After 10-15 years of only having reel-to-reel tape or LP vinyl Zappa (no cassettes)
I was sort of happy that he did eventually release CDs in any form! There were some obvious problems with the early discs but eventually it was all worked out. I don't have every version of every FZ release, but I do have a lot of 'em. I think my musical memory adjusts when I listen to different versions...
For being such twisted and bizarre music, it has sort of been the soundtrack for much of my life.
Made me what I am today, I guess.

# I was just singing that song to a friend
last week! (It spun off a discussion about Popeye's theme song, somehow. I Yam What I Yam and You Are What You IZ!)

# MTV was not the arbiter of style
in my circles. I did like that Art of Noise "Close to the Edit" and I have seen many shows by The Residents ( early MTV fodder when they had nothing else to show,) but for the most part MTV was just background noise.
