but I don't know anyone who still uses it for social networking. But I'll be damn impressed if they top Facebook, Twitter etc.

I thought it was a promo tool for bands and artists to upload their music pictures and videos to.

But i'm sure it started as just a social network blog. then they added the myspace music blog later on, and now that's what it's mainly used for.
